CCC Presents...From Shore to Shore

| CCC Brooklyn

12020 Flatlands Avenue, Brooklyn, NY, 11207

“From Shore to Shore”, is a Black History Month production of the CCC Performing Arts Department. A multimedia event.

We tell the story of black people in America through Dramatic Presentations, Negro Spirituals, Jazz, Contemporary Gospel, and the Dance forms of African, Modern and Hip-Hop. It is an exhilarating performance by a cast of over 200 singers, actors, and dancers. Marvelously supported by the sounds and rhythms of the CCC Band.

Our journey begins on the shores of Africa during the 1600’s and winds its way through the plantations and cotton fields of the south, with stops during reconstruction in the Senate and Congress. We visit the Civil Rights Movement, and finally arrive during some of the formidable triumphs and challenges of today. It is a glimpse of our history that speaks to every culture and people group, encouraging us all to continue the important fight for all men’s freedom.

From Shore to Shore has been performed at One Police Plaza with many government and city officials in attendance. Also, at Hollow Hills West High School which is a predominately white community in Dix Hills Long Island. We were invited back the following year for three performances and other schools in the Long Island area were brought in to see it. This work has also been performed at Hofstra University. After attending a showing, members of a committee from The New York City Dept of Education requested it be made available to the entire NYC school system.

Everywhere we have gone, this production has received critical acclaim as an exciting, informative, painfully truthful, yet entertaining work.
